So ran the invitation that Arlene Perly Rae, esteemed children's book reviewer and literacy campaigner, sent to hundreds of Canadian writers, artists, performers, politicians, and athletes. The response was quick and heartfelt. More than one hundred and fifty well-known Canadians wrote back, giving voice to the role of books and reading in their early lives.
