Aromatherapy has to be the most pleasant and sensual of all the alternative therapies, as well as being one of the most effective.
We can combine the use of our favourite scents with the treatment of many disorders by using the essential oils extracted from plants. These plant essences have been used throughout the ages for healing. Many have been shown to have a scientific basis for their medicinal properties and some are the components of conventional drugs.
The oils can be used in baths, diffusers and burners, room sprays, compresses and massage oils. Essential oils can be used for the treatment of both physical and psychological conditions, for cosmetic reasons or simply pleasure. Although we have every reason to be grateful for advances in modern medicine, the use of aromatherapy can be extremely beneficial.
